These Hondas Are Not Only Affordable but Boast Excellent Resale Value
The Honda brand may not be as prestigious or long-lived as the likes of Ford or Chevrolet, but as an internationally recognized badge, they've certainly made themselves a mainstay in the automotive industry. Honda has produced many great vehicles over the years, but this list takes a look at some of their most affordable options - that still have great resale value.
Honda Fit
Also known as the Honda Jazz in some territories, the Fit is one of Honda’s most popular models on the market right now, mostly due to its Magic Seats technology, which allows seats to be adjusted to fit a variety of configurations. It’s a cheap model that nonetheless retains its value well.
Honda Civic
Probably the most ubiquitous and well-known of Honda models, the Civic has been a mainstay on the roads for over two decades now. Available in sedan, coupe, and hatchback configurations, the Civic is practical and affordable, and can generally be resold at a great price.
Honda Civic Hybrid
With electric vehicles gaining more and more prominence on the roads, Honda would have been fools to not hop on the bandwagon. Hybrid technology (combining traditional gasoline engines and electric motors) was soon introduced to the Civic, serving to keep the car relevant amidst changing times. Like the original Civic, the Hybrid retains its value well.
Honda Accord
The Accord is what you get if the Civic doesn’t feel classy enough for you. While not a true premium vehicle, the Accord nonetheless offers a fantastic driving experience thanks to its great performance capabilities and emphasis on driver comfort. Despite the inclusion of more exclusive features, the Accord remains affordable.
Honda HR-V
If you like the idea of the Fit’s Magic Seats technology but wish it could be implemented into something bigger, the HR-V is the vehicle for you. A mini SUV crossover, the HR-V offers practicality and a zippy driving experience at an affordable price, and can often be resold for a modest “profit”.
Honda CR-V
Larger than the HR-V but still just as zippy and sleek, the CR-V is a compact SUV that offers plenty of cargo space, comfortable seating, and a bevy of exclusive technological features. It’s a high-quality experience that comes at a very reasonable price, considering the amount of value it both offers and retains.
Honda CR-V Hybrid
If fuel efficiency is a concern for you but you’re sold on what the CR-V package as a whole has to offer, consider the vehicle’s hybridized alternative. The CR-V hybrid offers the same basic experience as the regular model, but with a hybrid drivetrain that takes advantage of a traditional gas-powered engine and electric motors for an affordable price.
Honda Insight
Then again, maybe the whole SUV thing isn’t for you and you’re looking for a more traditional driving experience. Honda is happy to oblige with the likes of the Insight, a sleek and stylish sedan with a hybrid drivetrain of its own. Despite its premium feel and looks, the Insight remains reasonably priced.
Honda Accord Hybrid
Speaking of stylish, fuel-efficient sedans, did we mention that the Accord has a hybrid variant of its own? Indeed, now you’re able to enjoy all the comforts and prestige features of the Accord, but at a reduced cost in the long run since you’ll save on gasoline. And at the end of your journey with the vehicle, you’ll be able to get away with selling it at a very good price.
Honda Clarity
The Clarity takes Honda’s interest in providing drivers with electric options even further by essentially being a plug-in vehicle capable of performing multiple short trips without so much as a drop of gas. It’s a great vehicle with a great price, one that also retains its value very well.
Honda Ridgeline
The Ridgeline is one of Honda’s most popular trucks, mostly because it doesn’t resemble many other trucks beyond its looks. It features unibody construction that makes it even smoother to drive on the road, as well as dozens of comfort features and options, all available at a very fair price.
Honda Odyssey
For families who need a little extra space to accommodate everyone, the Odyssey is the perfect vehicle for you, a stylish minivan with tons of room and a smooth driving experience. It’s decently priced, too, and typically has great resale value.
Honda Passport
The Passport is so called because it’s your ticket to adventure (and Honda Ticket doesn’t have the same ring to it). It’s a large SUV that handles off-road exceptionally well while still providing great value with its spacious, comfortable interior.
Honda Pilot
If the Passport promises fun and adventure, the Pilot promises that it’ll get you to your destination smoothly and without hassle. It’s a midsize SUV with plenty of space, safety features, and user-friendly technology, all of which you can take advantage of at a reasonable price.
Honda Civic Type-R
If the regular Civic is just a little too pedestrian for you, maybe you’d be interested in its Red Bull-powered younger sibling, the Type-R. Featuring robust aerodynamics and offering a thrilling driving experience, the Type-R is one of Honda’s best performance models, and doesn’t ask for too much more than the regular Civic.
Honda CR-Z
The CR-Z was produced and marketed from 2010 to 2016, so you won’t find this at any regular old dealership. However, its combination of sporty dynamics and everyday practicality has made it incredibly popular on second-hand marketplaces - needless to say, it’s retained its value exceptionally well.
Honda Prelude
Another throwback vehicle, the Prelude disappeared from the roads in 2001 when production on the model was halted indefinitely. Since then, however, its value has continued to climb, and with excitement building for the upcoming 2026 revival of the nameplate, the Prelude is now worth so much more than its original humble asking price.
Honda S2000
Honda just doesn’t make them like this anymore. An iconic roadster from the early to mid-2000s, the S2000 was celebrated for its affordability and fantastic, engaging driving experience. Due to being out of production for so long, and with interest surrounding the model having grown significantly over the years, the S2000’s resale value has skyrocketed.
Honda Integra
A more luxurious alternative to the Civic, the Integra recently made a return to the roads in 2021 and has been popular ever since. While definitely more expensive than the Civic, it’s nowhere near as pricey as other sports cars, and - unlike those vehicles - actually retains its value quite well.
Honda Ballade
The Ballade is pure practicality all the way through. There’s not a single ounce of fat on this vehicle - it’s reliable, solid, and sturdy, and will get you where you need to go without hassle. It’s also modestly priced and retains its value well.
Honda Prologue
A futuristic take on the traditional SUV, Honda’s Prologue is a full-electric powerhouse of a car. While resale values tend to depreciate more for EVs due to their battery life, considering the Prologue is a fresh EV entrant from a very reliable brand, there is much potential for this snazzy vehicle.
Honda City
The Honda City struck gold across many Asian markets (such as Malaysia) for its economical value and sleek design. Due to this popularity, second-hand resale values hold strong even against its competition.
Honda Amaze
The name says it all, folks! Being a budget sedan with cheap parts, a well-trusted brand to back it up, and phenomenal resale value, this Honda truly does amaze its audience with all its perks. With its global popularity, we're certain this stylish drive won't be going out of fashion anytime soon.
Honda Civic Si
A stunning sportier Civic from what we're used to, the combination of performance upgrades, practicality, and the market for Honda enthusiasts keeps this compact sedan-hatchback in high demand, thereby affirming its resale value.
Honda Legend
On the flip side, this premium sedan offers a timeless style alongside a great build quality, but surprisingly holds a lower resale value than its companions in the sedan-hatchback category. Nonetheless, this stylish sedan remains a legend despite its resale value.
Honda BR-V
Circling back to our reliable crossovers, the BR-V maintains great popularity in regions such as South Africa and India for its family-oriented seven-seater design and general affordability, ensuring that it upholds a solid resale value.
Honda WR-V
Yet another snazzy crossover, the Honda WR-V has a smaller design with more affordability than some of its predecessors, such as the HR-V. With low running costs, this vehicle is ideal for urban living, thereby putting it in high demand and providing great resale values.
Honda Mobilio
This seven-seater MPV has gained popularity all over the world, from Asia to countries like South Africa. Its reliability and affordability ensure it upholds a stable second-hand use demand, making it a timeless multi-purpose vehicle.
Honda Elysion
A more luxurious multi-purpose vehicle than some of the others listed, this design is particularly popular in Asian markets such as China and Japan. While it maintained a relatively low production volume, that has only increased the desire and demand for one of these bad boys, be it new or used.
Honda Element
Now this entry is certainly a unique one. Its out-of-the-ordinary boxy design was not a favorite among many, but that didn’t stop this compact crossover from developing a niche cult following who have become the driving force behind its resale value.
Honda Acty
Yet another quirky entry, the Acty is not what you typically think of when you hear the name “Honda”. The brand certainly proved just how versatile it is with this mini-truck. Gaining popularity in countries such as Japan, its quirkiness and practicality has turned this car into a collectible among JDM fans.
Honda Stepwgn
Yet another popular choice in its domestic Japanese market, this MPV is an absolute machine in the market. Just looking at its design invokes a sense of the power this vehicle is capable of. This car holds its value in the JDM import market.
Honda Crosstour
Based on the Honda Accord, this crossover may not have been everyone's cup of tea, but it was a good cup of tea nonetheless. Like its Element companion, this is yet another unfortunately discontinued vehicle. Fortunately, its niche market and rarity ensure a stable resale value.
Honda E
Now this EV is the perfect blend of retro-futurism with its cutesy, rounded style. Tying in modernity with a taste of the classics, the Honda e is particularly popular across Europe and Asia. With its limited production and unique design, this car has become quite the collectible.
Honda Freed
The Freed is a compact multi-purpose vehicle smaller than some of its inspirations, such as the Odyssey, but still very popular in countries like Japan for its compact design, perfect for urban living as well as family use.
